So it's the relay that makes the noise? If your fuel pump is an aftermarket pump, you could usually hear it pump. Stock ones are quiet.

I think you're just hearing the fuel pump priming.

i have a stock fuel pump and i jumped it to the positive post so i noe its working cuzz i took off my back seats and did that...im not sure its priming because i dont even here the pump turn on when my friend turnes the key to ON and my ear is right on top of the pump...the sound is comming from my relay because i took off my glove box and found where the fuel pump relay was and i turned the key to ON and touched the relay and it was vibrating.

Mine is doing the same thing. I just put my engine back in and it's doing as this person describes.

Anyone?

check you power wires at hte fuse box in the engine bay. maybe its loose.. also make sure your ground wire at the thermostat housing has good connection, also ground at transmission to chassis.

I checked all the power wires and through the fuse box. I had attempted to disable the fuel and ignition by removing the fuel pump fuse and pgm-fi iirc fuse. When I put them back the relay to the fuel pump clicks continuously. I found that the backup fuse had blown for some reason so I replaced it but that didn't help. I figured out that the ecu isn't commanding the pump at all. If I take the relay and test ecu side of the coil it wasn't being grounded. So I used a test wire to ground it and that turned on the pump and I can run the engine. Is my ecu toast?

FYI: the relay clicking like crazy means only few things. its not getting enough voltage, bad connection somewhere, ecu bad or inputs have bad connection and is telling the ecu to ground the relay and not ground the relay.

i figured out my problem and it was the ground...i didnt ground my whole engine..it turns out i only grounded my valve cover so i grounded my tranny and thermo housing and it stopped.

Thank you that was the problem! It was the ground wires that go to the coolant housing near the temp sensor. My helper didn't tighten the bolt to it and so the ground was poor. The ecu was very unhappy and engine wouldn't run much past idle.
