i was wondering if someone could tell me what this is hole is for ?

mine is plugged

 

I believe that is for the EVAP Purge solenoid. IMHO you can do without this, unless you live in Cali which does SMOG check.

i thought the evap went to the canister .. and then to the hole on the side of the manifold

 

PCV vacuum source. Unless your PCV is routed some other way to a vacuum source, you'd better hook it back up.

i believe mine is routed from that outlet in the pic at the bottom right .. that has some white on it or something ...thats where it looks to be i believe

 

Oh...so you're dumping all your coolant into the crankcase then. That's good.
