how many psi will stock sleeves do?
i have a fully built d16z6 block with 8.8 compression wiseco pistons, scat rods, clevite bearings and a built head also. i just bought darton sleeves for my block, but am still debating whether or not to put them in because im running low on budget and installing them cost fairly expensive. i will be running a turbonetics t3/t4 turbo kit with it. i was wondering how many psi will stocks sleeves hold? im plannin probably to run it 14 psi every once in a while and sometime spike it up to 18.

better get some good sleves and block reinforcement and weld the crank on for 18

That or buy a DSM and run 18 on a bone stock engine with just a 16g

Ok look sleeves failure is related to two things. Detonation and power. There is no set PSI for when sleeve failure is likely but I have seen a few B18s hold 400+whp on stock sleeves with no problem on a good tune. Proper tuning I wouldn't really consider sleeves required till almost 450ish whp. If you wanna do them anyway for peace of mind since you are having the block opened up anyway then go for it.
