Default 84-87 CRX questions...

Ok I did a search, didn't find anything and am hoping someone can direct me to the right place. I'm not up on my 84-87 CRX's...A friend has a 87 si, he wants to swap a head from a newer 88-91 D16. Will it work? I know the exhaust ports are different but I dont know if the internals are too much different, anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,
Travis

^^^^What he said. http://www.redpepperracing.com Sorry but no 88+ head bolts onto the 84-87 blocks. One head bolt hole doesn't line up, as well as other problems. The best/easiest swap is a D16A1 out of an 86-89 integra along with the tranny/ecu/axles/front suspension/etc. Read the FAQ over at redpepper and it should tell you everything you need to know.

And the easiest of the easy swaps is the '86-'87 Integra D16A1, for one simple reason: it used the same vacuum advance system on the distributor that the '85-'87 CRX Si did. The '88-'89 Integras went to an electronic advance, which is still a swappable engine, but it takes more time and wiring.

Redpepper is THE source for excellent 1G CRX/3G Civic info. It's my first stop when I've got questions about my '87 CRX Si, and they've never failed me.
