Everythign is a rumor right now. Nothing definite other than that it is on the way. I have heard one rumor say 2003, countless ones saying 2004. My bet is 2004.

My guess is we'll see the RSX-R on the road around October of 2003 as a 2004 model. That's what sources from Honda say.

Ok so the current type-s costs about 25K, if the type-r costs a few thousand more, why not just get an evo vii? and the evo vii will be here jan 2003..

Mitsubishi and Reliable. Two words that don't go together. Don't get me wrong, the Evo will probably be an awesome car when it arrives on our shores, but anyone whose ever owned any performance Mitsu will tell you these cars have lots of reliability issues. So if you value not getting your car serviced as often as you get your haircut, I'd stay with the Scoobie WRX Sti or go to the DC5 R.

you might say that for DSMs, but not for scoobies. They are VERY reliable cars. I'm sorry, but for $25K-30K I wouldn't even get a RSX/GTS/or RSX-R. The EVO and WRX (and WRX STi at $30K+) is such a better value (ie performance per dollar).
