Broke College Student.....What should i go with??
As in the title. im in college and i have no up front cash, my parents are going to help me finance a vehicle from a dealer. I was wondering what you guys think i should go with.. i live in queens and preludes are rare (people love the h22's), all the integras around here seem to be comprised of stolen parts..in fact there is a chop shop at the end of my block (just two weeks ago they had a 04' Crv out there with a 01 civic both with there hoods open no plates no registration...ANYWAY i cant afford to buy an integra at a dealer and get it stolen im going to have liability only. I heard Sentra Spec-V's suck..riddled with engine problems and other mechanical issues. So what do you guys think i should look at...once again i would buy a car outside of a dealer if i could..but the only way to afford a reliable car is to finance it at a dealer.. so let me kno what you guys think!!!Appreciate it in advance!!!!
Well when my friends civic got stolen.. he spazzed on my whole neighborhood and made several unidentified calls to the police..about the locations throughout my neighborhood...but nothing cam of it this was the last summer that passed...otherwise i think that the chop shop at the corner is fronted as a home repair shop

Why would you even want an Acura/Honda when you know a block down from where you will be parking, they make money off of stealing those cars? Especailly if you are only going to have liability, I wouldn't do it, because there is a good chance you will dump of all your money in your car and then have it jacked. It kinda sucks when you have to think twice about buying a car because you are scared people are going to steal it. ****** thieves once again.

I'm pretty sure it's standard practice everywhere, but here you HAVE to have full coverage on a car that is financed. And why buy a new car and get liability anyway?? You'll spend all that money, get it stolen or crash it, and then get left with nothing.
I only have liability on my beater civic because it's only worth maybe $900

you are just going to go against anything we say...
live within your budget...
if your stuck on a honda get a CRX/EF/EG and leave it stock so the chop shop won't go for you...

You can rarely, if ever have a vehicle financed without having full coverage insurance on it. The reason being, is while it's financed...the bank, credit union, dealership, etc. still takes a chance of taking a loss on it. If it gets stolen, they know there is a better chance of the full coverage insurance paying for the vehicle....whereas liability, they see that they won't get their money back. Even if you could get away with just liability, would you really want to take a chance? If I were you, I would just get something cheaper and not flashy. If you want a honda, go for it....but just be aware that they are theft/vandalism magnets.
1st thing if you are taking out a loan do fullcoverage(in fact i think they will make you) 2nd if you dont call about the chop shop on your block, then that is where your car will probly end up

the thing is that i will only be at home during vacations for 8 months out of the year im in college upstate where the only cars on the road are tauras's, neons, and pontiac grand am's. But i appreciate your advice...though im still gonna look into getting a HONDA/ACURA
just like what has been said before. Why buy an acura/honda if you live down the street from a chop shop. And only having liability on an acura/honda is just going to lead to trouble. In my opinion, you need to rethink what you want out of a car....or possibly move away from a chop shop

cars at college campuses get stolen just as often, if not more..personally i like the integra more than the prelude (biased).. i'm a broke college student too so i can only get something new for my car every few months, integra is a good platform for me

also, if you're a BROKE college student, you might want to think about getting a car that doesn't have as high of insurance rates as some hondas. I know that even liability on Integras is rediculous, because of their high theft rate.
Full coverage on my 98 GSR 2dr is less than $1k per year. I'm in So Cal (high theft rate), only 20 yrs old, and on my own insurance (not with parents anymore). But I do have my civic on there as well so I get a multi car discount
