Default Lowering Springs??

Hey guys,new here.

I have a 93 Civic EX Coupe which I bought about 1 1/2 months ago. Right now I have only put on an Apex'i N1 Cat Back exhaust and a short ram intake. A friend from work is selling me the rims and tires off his g/f's civic(hopefully be getting them this week)..there 17" wheels. The rims that are on my car right now SUCK bad...very hidious. The 17" will make my car look better but without lowering it I know it will look like a damn 4x4 which I don't want. So I am looking into a set of Lowering Springs. I know when I lower it the tires will not be straigt...the camber will be out which will wear the insides of my tires out. So I want some lowering springs and also a set of adjustable front control arms. I hear I can do a "Washer" trick to the back to get the camber right.

So I was wondering to go with..also with 17" wheels how much should I lower it? I was thinking maybe 1 3/4" to 2"? I don't know what brands are good and whats not when it comes to springs, control arms, etc. I want a pretty nice ride as I will be driving it to work everyday. I found these H&R springs...anyone know if these will be any good?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33582

With those springs I can go with a 1 3/4" drop on the front and 1 1/2" on the rear or 2 1/2" on the front and 2 1/4" on the rear? Are those springs any good? And what should I go with as far as lowering it with 17" wheels. Also anyone know where I can get adjustable front control arms? Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.

I have H&R sports on my hatch with 16'' wheels. They are great. In your situation I would recommend going with the sports as well. For the camber, get an omnipower camber kit for the front (www.onmipowerusa.com) and put 2 washers in the rear.

read through my suspension thread in my sig below

if you want a specific lowering go with coil overs.

17" wheels suck cause they take more power to turn than smaller ones. if you want performance you want wheels that barely clear the brake calipers.
i suggest coilovers and no more than 16" rims with 40 or 45 series tires

Thanks guys for the info..nice read on the suspension post!! Civictildeath...I think the wheels on my Civic right now are 15"...how much of a difference in the butt dyno do you think I will notice with the 17" wheels?? The wheels and tires I am getting from my friend costed him 1,000 bucks new and he wants 600 bucks for them...thats why I was so interested..plus they would look sweet on my car but I don't want to loose much power with the 17s either..I am trying to get more power..not loose it...

dont know how much you will lose but you will lose power.
like i said if you want performance i would stay with the 15's

Savings or not, I wouldn't get the 17 inch wheels. Also, with those size wheels, your speedometer will be off.

This is what I would do for the present moment:

Keep your wheels
Get lowering springs (or coilovers)
Get struts
Get a camber kit

You could do all that for the price of those wheels and your car will perform SOO much better. You'd love it.

Well I think I am gonna do as you guys say and not get the 17" wheels...However I can't keep my current wheels...they are just to ugly. I will look for some nice 15" rims. Anyone have any good sites where I can buy wheels?

Honestly, that's the smart move (and not just because we suggested it)

Rota's are a very good option for 15'' wheels. They are very light and they look great. You can get them on ebay for $440 shipped. What color is your car?

Yeah,I just can't afford to loose power...thats the TOTAL opposite of my goals. I just got to looking around again at wheels..I have had a thing for the Rota Circuit 8s for a while now. Black Rota Circuit 8s would look SCHWEET on my car and I can get a 15". I just looked around on ebay..there is a guy on there selling a brand new set of Circuit 8s for 420bucks shipped. Is that a good deal? He has a store setup I think. Heres the link to the Auction.

That is a good deal on those wheels. $440 is the usual price for Rota's.

So your next step is to start thinking on a good spring/stuck combination. Here are a couple of threads on the H&R sport and race springs, since you already know about those.
