The D16a1 was found in the 87'-89' tegs. It looks similar to the ZC but, it only has like 112hp and I'm not sure of the Tq. rating.

SOHC guru's help this man out!

They are both similar to the JDM 2g dohc ZC engines that are commonly known as the "blacktop", which is a bit of a misnomer because I believe there were a few 1g ZC blacktops too. Anywho, it's this 2g dohc ZC that everyone swaps into the 88+ Civics/CRXs because it has the correct bell housing bolt pattern and engine/tranny mount locations. The D16A1 and 1g ZC have a different bell housing bolt pattern and different engine/tranny mounts. To answer your next few questions ... no, it is not worth it to try and fab your own engine mounts to swap a D16A1 into your 4g civic/2g crx. No, no one makes a mount kit to do this. No, it is not easy or cheap, hence why no one does it. Yes, you are much better off using a USDM D16Y8 or D16Z6. Better power, better reliability, better mileage, better everything. You're welcome.

p.s. please bookmark this post so you can explain it to the next 100 people who ask this question. thanks

Oh, now i can see that your DOHC ZC is something else than european D16A9... on the outward the same, but inside it really is different. What is the output of your DOHC ZC? I was told that your DOHC ZC uses same bearings (size) as D16A6/7 SOHC.
European D16A9;

D16A9 bearings:

Just to let you know

Does anyone know the differences?
