ls valvetrain
i am putting together a 96 ls motor with some gsr pistons and all new gaskets, rings, rod bearing, crower cams(not much lift) and arp head bolts. i am wanting to get my ecu reflashed so i could hit a little high rpms and i was wondering what is a safe rev for the motor without stretching the rodbolts and ruining the valvetrain
why would u get GSR pistons? those wont raise the compression ratio up too much. Get B16 pistons (PR3) or jdm B16 (P30) pistons for better compression.
Im run n crower 403's with crower springs and retainers. redline is at 7200 right now. will shift it up to 7500 after i put in my ARP rod bolts and P30 pistons. go n to the dyno after this to see where these cams stop making power. i dyno'd my car a month ago with the stock 6800 rev limit and the cams were still make n power.
do u have springs and reatiners (or just springs), then i would rev it to about 7200-7400 is u have springs. if u get arp rod bolts, then u can rev to high 7's or wherever these cams stop make n power.
if u have stock valve springs then i wouldnt raise the stock rev limit more than a few hundred rpms (about 200).
