What sprocket(s) should i go with???
I have a 99' 900RR with stock gearing. Im getting ready to convert from a 525 to a 520 because the tensile strength difference is like 2% weaker. i want to lower my gearing but i don't know how low is too low. my stock is 16/43 i was thinking 2 down 2 up which would lower it by 28% so when im on the freeway at like 75mph it will make my RPMS about 1200 higher. is that going to be overly bad? does anyone have a 900RR with lowered gearing? what can you tell me?
2 down is too much for that front sprocket. What do you plan on doing? Are you just stunting? Like usdm said, 1 down 2 up or 1 down 1 up is pretty much the standard to increase midrange without too much sacrifiece of top end and freeway rpms.
Can i run a 108? that the size recomended for my bike "stock gearing" 1 down 2 up
yeah i do stunt a little but not enough to smash in my fuel tank

I would do what they say. Is your swingarm stock length, do u wanna stunt? My swing is stretched 4" so I can get a little radical here. I haven't put my 2 up sprocket on yet I'm waiting for the first full week of warm weather and for the tracks to open to see what kinda times I get with each mod (bigger pipe, rejet, K& N filter, then 1 down on front) That should do it for me. Good luck.
ive been thinking of doing a stretch on my bike. throw that K&N away Factory Pro makes a much better filter kit (WAY MORE POWER!!!) for about $190. how much did that stretch cost? how did it affect you handling? can you still wheelie with it a little? any other draw backs?

going down on the front sprocket puts a lot more stress on your chain versus going up in the rear...
i think you should go 1 down 2up at the most.

really? never knew that, then 2 up in the rear it is, and if i were to do that this spring, should i def. change the front sprocket too?
I have -1/+2 on my 600. I just liked the extra down low power. I've run Vortex for 2 years now, get something else. Sprocket Specialist is good. Vortex rears are aluminum, meaning they only last a year.
