Runnung extremely rich 99 ex help
I just did a mild tune up on my car a couple of days ago. When I first started the car up it threw a check light. It was for a MAP cirtciut high voltage thing. Anyway fixed that but my car is still running extremely rich. You can actually put your hand in front of the tailpipe and it turns completely black. I changed my fuel filter and spark plugs but I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with it. Just to give you an example my car burned a little more than a 1/4 tank in 50 miles. I don't know what to do.
Check all the sensors on your throttle body/ intake piping to make sure they are all in place and the plugs are secure. Also does the car drive funny? Will it go to redline, does it cut fuel at a low RPM? Idling bad?
It runs really funny while driving. It is very stuttery it doesn't like to take off and it idles between 1100 and 1500 rpms. I pulled out the plugs which are brand new and they are completely black. Could this maybe be caused by a bad pcv because I got one but cannot figure out where it goes.
not so sure that would be from your PCV which is located on the top of your intake manifold, I would double check all your sensors, sounds like one is either not plugged in or is giving a bad reading which is fooling the computer into thinking the engine needs more fuel when it really doesnt
how is your fuel pressure? Do you have a gauge, or no? And how is the performance. When you did the tune up, did you change the cap and rotor? Are you sure that it's too much fuel or not enough spark
I am pretty sure I checked and double checked all of the sensors. The map sensor was unplugged and I plugged it back in and it still runs rough. This is why the check light was on. Wouldn't another check light come on if another sensor is unplugged or even if it is malfunctioning. I am still having a hard time finding the pcv valve.
No fuel pressure guage. No new cap and rotor. I replaced the plugs with Denso Iridium is there a certain gap they need to be at. The owners manual said to be at .04 in. is that the same with these plugs. Not sure if its to much fuel or not enough spark. I pulled off each wire individually while it was running to see if it altered the running condition. You could hear it drop the cylinder. And when I pulled the wires off it had tons of spark. Besides it ran just fine before I did the tune up.

The first exploded chart shows the PCV which is # 6, just for kicks try unhooking your battery for like 5 min and then re hook it back up, let the car idle for like 1-2min and see if that changes anything, it will reset your ECU
