How do u know if a block is stolen or not?

Default How do u know if a block is stolen or not?

how can u check to see if the block is legit? can u look up the serial # below the engine code or anything...any sites that u guys know of where i can get this infomation at? HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

they usually say 'stolen' under the valve cover.

from past experience the only way to tell is to bring the block to the police department and have them run the number...if its stollen they will keep the motor.

I think the best way is to judge the seller!

Does he have any problem giving you a bill of sale?

Does he have any problem showing you his ID?

Does he want you to pick up the engine in some location other than his house?

Does he have a problem giving you the numbers off of the block so that you can run it by the police?

Does he give you a phone number that's valid? Although maybe valid, I'd wonder about somebody that only will give out a cell phone number. If all he gives is a pager number, somethings wrong!

If you get a red flag, PLEASE contact the police with what ever information you have. That's the only way that we can limit the amount of cars stolen.

It's true if everyone started to do this. We would all be less worried about are cars getting stolen. But then again Everyone has to do it. LOL
