Default The dreaded "Check Engine Light"...catalytic converter???

Today I got a CEL in my 00 Si, when I checked the code it said #67, "catalyst system"... I'm assuming that means catalytic converter. I have an Apex'i GT header, stock midpipe and Mugen Twin Loop axleback.

Just last week I had an emissions test and it passed fine (see scan below)... I don't get why my cat would be bad? Is it okay to drive on until I get a replacement sent over from the States? Should I get an OEM one or can someone recommend an aftermarket replacement?

What o2 sensor are you using?
That short period that my bosch unit was installed, it would throw that code about every other day.
After replacing w/ a Denso unit, I have not since received that code.

My stock one for the primary (header) went once so I replaced it with a Bosch. The one in the cat right now is the stock one still...the code says catalyst system, I would assume if it was the O2 sensor it would have said "secondary 02 sensor"

Well, the 2nd o2 sensor senses the cat's effiency. If its still the oe unit then its probably not failing, causing a mis-cel.
I'm pretty sure Honda will warranty their cat systems for 10years or something like that. They should not die after 55k miles

Yeah good point... 55k miles and it passed emissions just last week... perhaps it is the secondary 02 sensor then (kinda weird that it wouldn't run the faulty secondary 02 sensor CEL though)?

EDIT: Going to the Honda dealer to make a claim might now work being that it's got aftermarket i/h/e lol

Emisson items are 8/80 from Honda. As long as the cat is still there and hasn't been modified Honda should cover it and the o2 sensors also. To not be covered Honda has to prove the aftermarket items you added caused the failure of the covered items which in your case shouldn't be a problem.

A friend just told me that "pcv valve" is covered under "catalyst system". In the Helm's it says to pinch the pcv hose with the engine at idle to check for an audible click. I just tried that and no click, so pcv valve may be the problem. Is it true that it's covered under catalyst system?

reset the ecu, and take it for a test drive to see if the code came back. does your car emitted the funky smell like rotten egg?

Nope no smell, and it passed emissions last week. I reset the ECU, waiting till morning to drive it. No light during idle though.

it probably won't come on during idle, but it should come on once you go for a test drive. usually it would pop up during down shift or in traffic.
