Hey guys,
I'm looking at purchasing a flywheel soon and wanted to know which ones you guys are running and how you like them.
I'm leaning towards the ACT 12lbs one rite now cuz i'll be using it for mainly daily driving and once in a while auto-x and track...maybe a few quatermile passes.
i was told that the 8lbs one would be too light (if that's possible) cuz it'll force me to shift quicker than normal.
Thanks for your opinions and advice!

i have the act streetlite (12lbs) and it's good. i like it. my friend has the prolite (8 lbs) in his 93 GSR and it's noticably more rev happy, but then again his gears are a lot shorter than mine.

see that's the thing, i'm get a B18C installed very soon and i want to get this done while the motor is out (decided to go with an RPS street clutch), it's a GSR tranny as well....so your buddy likes the 8lbs eh?

I have had a Fidanza 7.5 lbs. flywheel for about 2 weeks now and I am very happy with it. It took a little bit of getting used to for daily driving but I really like it.

i have ethe fidanza for my b18b. it didnt take any "getting used to" for me. it's my daily driver, and it drives pretty much the same as with the stock flywheel. only the revs build up a tad quicker.

I've seen this fidanza brand on ebay before.... is it a reputable company or is it just some cheap ****??
How do you benifit from the flywheel being lighter? I know it makes it easier to rev, does that mean it will accellerate faster?
Once the clutch is dropped and your actually driving, do you feel the difference of the flywheel like does it accellerate faster?
thanks, sorry for hijacking

Perhaps it was the new clutch as well since they were both put in at the same time. Either way I like it

yes, when you're in gear your revs are directly proportioned to your speed. lightweight flywheel takes rotating mass off of what the crankshaft has to turn so you can rev faster. you'll get some better gas mileage too

Fidanza has been in business for decades.one of the first companies to make lightweight flywheels for Hondas.i've installed about a dozen Fidanza flywheels-never had a problem with any of them.the first one i installed is the one i'm still using about six years later.
7-8 lbs is not too light for a flywheel.

Thanks for the feedback guys!!
I'm still deciding on the weight of the flywheel that i should go with...i think it's only a 50bux difference (CAD $) between the 8lbs and the 12lbs...
have you guys had any problems with the aluminum ones? i understand you can't really machine them if need, so you have to order new pads to bolt up?
another option with me is a used Toda flywheel...is it worth it to buy this used or go with a new ACT one instead?
Thanks a bunch you guys!!

you can buynew replacement friction surfaces for the aluminum ones.Fidanza quoted me $100 shipped for the pad and hardware.
keep in mind when buying a used flywheel it will need to be resurfaced.

i have an 8lb flywheel on my car....i can say nothing bad about this flywheel, it is a clutchmasters aluminum one.
as far as shifting faster........if you have a short throw on ther you will never notice
the only way you might is if you are paul walker and you granny shift, and not double clutch like you should

you still will have to rev match with a lighter flywheel.
7.5 lb Fidanza is what im using now. spins up a lot faster but you have to watch the revs when you downshift. Me Likey
