I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to do yourself. just remove the old one, and do some custom cutting with sheet metal. drill some holes, rivit it down and put a sealer around the inside. even paint it same color as car, shoudln't be too expensive.

i've removed the entire mechanical assembly(which eliminated quite a bit of weight, and provides about 2-3" more helmet clearance),and have the glass panel mounted solid.i just used four L brackets to attach the glass to the lip that the glass sits in.then ran a bead of silicone to seal it.i'm going to cut a carbon fiber filler to replace the glass-very similar to the above picture, but mine won't have any bolts visible from outside, and will have factory style weatherstripping around it.if i can ever get enough free time to do it,i'll post pics.
as for getting the shape, use a piece of cardboard and trim until it's perfect, then transfer to your finish piece(C/F,fiberglass,sheet metal, etc).to prevent having exposed bolt/rivets,i'm fiberglassing a few L brackets to the bottom side of the filler, which will bolt to the same lip i mentioned above.3M windshield urethane will then be applied to the joint on the inside-that stuff is more than strong enough to hold the filler by itself with no kind of brackets(we[as well as all OEMs] use it to hold windshields, back windows and side windows in with NO other attachment method),but i don't want to take any chances with a picky tech guy.you can pick it up at auto parts stores.it requires a caulk gun, although an air-powered gun makes it MUCH easier to apply.finally,i'll be installing a headliner from a DX model to take advantage of the increased clearance(non sunroof model headliners are tucked up higher),and hide all the work from inside.

the sunroof weighs 34.2 lbs. i replaced min with a mb products fiberglass filler (about $100). it was really simple to install, just having to rivet it to the inner lip of the sunroof hole.

i could get some, but it would be in the car finished. essentially it is a drop in piece, very simple to install. it is worth it to get the mb plug vs making your own, as it would be a pain in the *** to do so.

I always enjoyed my sunroof, but if it offers some real perfomance gains i would like to take it out. It is really the only thing i dont' like on SI trim. What have you noticed in handling by removing it, less body roll or what?

to be honest, i personally didn;t notice a thing. currently my car is the fastest fwd car in my scca class in the country (2nd year in a row ) but according to my butt dyno, i really didn't notice a damn thing. it is at the highest point of the car, so it has to have effected the performance.
