Default steam cleaning engine

anything extra you have to watch out for besides the dist. cap with a turbo setup? i plan on taking it to a car wash that does this. im not sure if they bagged off the necessary stuff last time i took it w/o the turbo setup, but they did a damn good job.

Probably not a good thing to do when the motor is hot. Ever put cold water in a hot glass? Craaacckk!! What you should do is just buy some engine-brite or gunk and do it in your driveway with the engine cold. That stuff will work better than steam cleaning anyways, it has detergents that clean off the oils and other ****. Just get like a brass bristle brush and scrub the stubborn staines after you put the cleaner on. Then just spray off, and, viola--clean engine!
Oh yeah, look out for the intake, distributor, and basically any kinds of wiring harnesses and connectors (shock towers) if possible.
Good luck!

Don't use Gunk unless you feel like having your car smelling like crap for a month or two. Use the Castrol Super Clean stuff. It smells better and works just(or almost) as good. Also it is more environmently friendly.

wont steam cleaning a turbo'd engine be too risky? could get water all over the teflon tape or loosen up a seal or something. get water between the cracks and cause rust to form. i dunno...

That's my concern ... the turbine housing and exhaust manifold would be very prone to rusting. When my oil return broke and splattered oil all under my car I wanted to do this, but I think I'm going to jack it up and hose it down with degreaser instead.
