dx > ex cluster, check engine light?

Default dx > ex cluster, check engine light?

i swap clusters. dx to ex in my 97 hatch. when i had the dx cluster in, the light wasnt on, but when i put in the new one the light came on? what would make this happen? and how could i fix it?

Your DX cluster might have had a burnt CEL bulb. So you were probably running with a CEL for a while.

the reason your check engine light is on is because when u switched them out...the wiring hookups were not the same therefore causing an eclectrical problem back to your ECU and then causing the check engine light to come on
