Reving porbles :(
Ok so i installed my new 96 ex gauge cluster onto my 96 Dx and well my tachometer seems weird. When i punch it i dont come close to hitting the red-line or anything. the most it hits is about 6k, whats up with that yo??? is it cause my engine isnt able to Rev that high or what. I have a Dy17 . . . . Heres a picture of my gauge cluster

The Y7's fuel cut off is somwhere around 6800rpm. You're stock ECU won't allow you to rev higher, regardless of what cluster/tachometer you're using.

you have an ex cluster in a dx.
what is the redline of the dx? i'm sure it isnt the same as the one on the ex cluster..........
do you have an EX motor in your car or DX?
(i don't know the any of the sohc engine codes)

I have a 92 LX which shows a redline of 7,200 but rev limiter was always at 6,800. I now have a D16Y7 instead of a D15B7. Why would my tach come stock showing 7,200 redline but limited to 6,800?

because the stupid face on your tach has nothing to do with the limitations set upon your motor by the ecu

ok my point was.... My tach..... is for a 92 civic LX NON vtec... stock... shows redline of 7,200 but that EX cluster up top shows a redline of 6,800. All I ask is how come? I'm looking for a pic of my stock guages without the indiglo stuff.. They were 100% the same. (stock and indiglo)

It's because that **** doesn't read in MPH
But seriously, maybe it has something to do with it being an automatic cluster. Unless your car is automatic, in which case I'm not sure WTF is going on.
