how to remove screws in brake rotors?
if you have the luxury of an air tool then cool not a prob.. but if you dont .. then use an impact driver.. i got mine at sears for like $20... you hit the end of the impact driver w/ a hammer.. and it turns the tip/bit on the front.. thats how i got those 2 screws off of the brake disc rotor..
Either an Impact Gun or a little impact driver. The gun is an air tool, so if you don't have a compressor, that's not an option. The driver is a small tool you hit with a hammer that will get those screws out quickly. These are 12 bucks at your local auto parts store. A good investment.
As for the impact driver...make sure you get one that is metal, not plastic. The plastic one is ****. It absorbs some of the impact.
Trust me, I own both types.

haha i didnt even kno they made impact drivers in plastic.. i dont think i would buy the plastic one if i had the option.. sumthing about hammering the plastic. i'd rather pay a lil more and get a metal one.. i think mine has a lifetime warranty too cuz its craftsman

i just did this on saturday........use a chizel and a hammer.........place the chizel on the left side of the screw and hit it downward with the hammer so that it turns the screw.......you need a fat chizel
At my friends garage: The impact screwdriver stripped the screws, so we fired up the blow-torch and melted them out. It was fun and there was no damage to anything else.
Thanks guys! i don't have an air compressor so i'll have to opt for the impact driver...so $20 at sears eh? i may do that or look for a cheaper one...not plastic of course....
i did also consider drilling them out...won't cost me a dime..which would be nice
thanks!

You SURE you didn't cook the heck out of the grease from the nearby wheel-bearings? I torched the hat around the screws to make that expand, and then popped them loose with the impact driver.

I don't think we did. The torch was set to a very small blue tip, with afterburner. The screws melted out fairly quickly and the rotor hat shielded most heat from the spindle. I hope

Can the rotors be used w/o those screws? My old Camry had no screws on the brake rotors, the rotors were held in place simply by the wheel when it was bolted on. Seems like that should work on Hondas, too.
No screws are necessary.. I think the caliper and the 4 lugs hold the thing on pretty damn well..
I didn't even attempt to get the screws out with an impact hammer; I went straight to the drill. If you use the right size drill bit(i forget what size off-hand), once you break the head of the screw, the drill bit will spin the remaining stud all the way thru the hub.

yeah i didnt even bother replacing the screws after i took them out.. i figure the caliper mount is over the brake disc and also the rim/wheel lug nuts.. just make sure you have a torque wrench and torque down your wheel/lug nuts properly and you should be OK..
if ur really cheap like me and dont wanna buy and impact driver for 20 bucks u can use the chizel method that GTeater stated...or the same method but with a long nail...only problem is it leaves little dimples on the top of the screw...
