Does anyone know what could be causing a rough grinding noise when I shift into third? It doesn't happen in any other gears, and when I shift slowly it doesn't happen at all. Something to do with the synchros?

 

ya the syncro is shot, doyou beat on the tranny? You could pick up another one for pretty cheap or have ur current one rebuilt

 

Naw, I just got this car a couple of weeks ago :/ I'm putting nitrous in soon, but I'd like to get this fixed before that goes in. I don't really want to spend a ton of money, seeing as I might blow up my d16z6 with that nitrous, and then I'd be swapping a b16 in. Can a trans shop just put in a new synchro for 3rd gear?

 

They can, but for the price they would charge you, you'd be better off just buying a used tranny somewhere off of someone.

1-2 shifter fork or motors mounts.

BUT everyone blames the synchros.........I sold about 200 of them along time ago.
