Alrighty people I have a problem with my engine. When I start my car I can hear the engine cranking but the engine does seem to ignite the fuel and air mixture, so I'd be cranking it for a while with no response and at the same time I can hear this strange noise like something grinding. I think that sound may be the new water pump that I had just got done installing so maybe it needs some breakin in. Also this problem started after I installed the water pump. Geez, I hope I didn't just install a defective water pump cause I heard It'll make a whirlling sound when its broken.

 

the water pump shouldn't effect your cars starting ability..
you might however have jumped a tooth on your timing belt.. make sure that you installed your timing belt correctly and double check your spark plugs

 

dont know if u install d the pump urself..but if a reputable shop did it..it should be OK...the the grinding sound seems to be the starter..recheck ur connections..might be a ingnition problem..does not mean u need new parts though

 

check your cap and rotor
