Default Turbo and tuning

Okay, I plan on boosting my 2nd Gen ZC (Sohc Vtec) about 8-10 pounds, with stock internals. I know when it comes to boosting, tuning is the deciding factor as to engine life and reliability. What do you suggest? I'm not too sure what Uberdata and Hondata are, can anyone please explain. Right now I have a Chipped P28, is there a special chip I can run that'll produce a nominal amount of power. I'm trying to be conservative, and not waste 1000 dollars on an E-management system, stand alone, etc.

Thank you

Check out Hondata.com

Uberdata is a similar system, where you also modify your existing ecu which allows you to change certain parameters. (I think)

Search for more info.

If you already have a chipped P28 ECU all you need is a chip burner (ebay $50-80) and a free tuning program called uberdata.

http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata/

Start there. You can easily make a base map for a boosted application, then you need to either dyno tune or get a wideband 02 and go from there. I have been reading about it for a friend and it is fairly straight forward and they have a forum.

With the stock MAP sensor you should be good up to ~11psi, but on stock internals I would stick with 8.

uberdata is the way to go. Check out the site, and it will cost way less than any other system and is just as good as hondata in my opinion.

All though I am biased because hondata just crashed my computer.... haha

im gonna agree with the guys above and say go uberdata. your ecu is already socketed, so you are only 100 bucks or less away from having a basemap thats driveable, and in my opinion better than a vafc or fmu. check out the uberdata site as was listed above. make sure you read the thread on how to make a basemap by bigwig and keebler65's write ups on tuning and basic uberdata knowledge.

so you guys think uberdata is really better than hondata?

I need to kno too as i will be boosting my built b17a and need to decind on a ecu system.

So far its down to uber or hond data.

I see uberdata is cheaper than honata but what about reliability? Is it good for big boost? Like 30lbs?

Thanks for the information, I just need to know, what would I look for when searching on ebay for a chip burner, what hardware would I need or want it to come with, and what kind of chips are they?....

Thanks!

well go to http://moates.net and they have everything you need, i dont have the chip right in front of me but i beleive it is the AT29c256, They have a burner called BURN1 i use it and it works great, very easy. You might also want to get a low profile ZIF socket so you can take the chips in and out easier

edit: i feel nice today

Low profile ZIF http://www.moates.net/product_...id=46
BURN1 http://www.moates.net/product_...id=48

The only reason I think Im gonna go with Hondata is because its supported by a lot of shops around the area, notable ones, that I know I can trust. I know they could do a better tune job than me, so thats what Id go with if I ever get a turbo...

thats understandable, but once u get the hang of uberdata its really easy, so when you go to a dyno you dont have to pay them to tune your car as well as use the dyno, just rent an hour and do the pulls urself

Thanks for the information so far, so all I really need to purchase is the Burn1, download Uberdata, and pick up a few extra chips...? It's my understanding that these chips can be burned several times over?

I really appreciate the information, what Version of Uberdata are you using? Any advice for tuning, like where to start on a base-map?

Thanks again!

they can be burned pretty much an infinite times, you are also going to want to pick up the nokia phone cable, so you can datalog. I currently am using 1.66 but am gunna start using 1.7. If you have any questions throw me an e-mail at mbstull@adelphia.net or hit me up on aim Soccerking3000

if you are going to tune yourself, go with uberdata.. if you are going to have someone else tune you IMO go with hondata..

you should of posted this in Forced Induction, you would probably get more results..

I haven't seen it stated anywhere else but just so you know you are going to have to desolder/solder in a socket and a few other components in to your ecu. After that it's cake. I love uberdata and if you have a brain I'm sure you'll learn how to use it. I'm still really suprised at the money some people put into hondata and tuning.

well it said he had a chipped ecu, so i figured it already had that stuff in there, it might not have the socket, so he might have to solder that in but everything else should be in there already

Yup, I'm socketed, and ready to go. I just purchased everything and 4 extra chips, so I'll be hitting you up on AIM in a month or so...

Thanks Soccerking3000, and everyone else who has commented!
