Default Few questions after working on my f-max all weekend

does the oil drain of the turbo have to perfectly vertical? I have it close, it's about 15 degress off because my compressor sits in the motor mount bracket and the drain flange hits the bracket. Anyone have any ideas to protect the oil drain line from the heat of the down pipe other than spend the $ on earls fittings and braided lines? I had alot of fun working on it this weekend
Preludes are such a pain to work on, there's hardly any room for everything. my integra is much easier.

I'm pretty sure that I read that anywhere up to 30 deg off is ok. But the closer to verticle the better.

About protecting the oil return line. You can buy firejacket and stuff like that, but what I did was took some more of the 5/8" hosing and cut it lengthwise. Then just slipped that over the return hose where it is close to the dp. This gave it an extra layer of protection for real cheap.

you can still fit the ss braided lines on the oil fittings provided by fmax. just use a little oil and muscle to push it on and use hose clamps just to make sure its secure.

make it vertical...
I had it angle just a tad from vertical then a 90 union, it leaks like half a quart a week...

make sure it is vertical.....you don't want any problem in a long run

ooh yeah, I use firjacket as well, to protect the lines form touching the DP..

I have some left, we can split the cost...

I can't make it vertical, the oil drain flange hits the motor mount bracket since the compressor sits in the motor mount bracket!! I would have to cut 1/2 of the motor mount bracket, the drain fitting is straight though. I hope it'll be okay.
Did you use any teflon on the threaded fittings? That helps against leaks.

If I'm correct I think it even says in the FMAX directions that up to 30 deg off is ok.....
