oil return line with clamps,, is it ok???
Hi i installed my oil return line on my car, does it look good?? I know the line is not installed with threaded fittings,, but for now it was the only option. The bung on the oil pan and the flange on the turbo have no threads so thats why I used some clamps. Will it hold ok though?
thanks and here are some pics:

If the nipple where the hose goes over is big enough (about 1-1.5 inches), you should be fine. Just check for leaks everyday for at least a week or two.

You wont have any problems.
But im sure you'll get a few people chime in to tell you to
"do it the right way" whatever the hell that means.
No worries.

yea as long as it doesn't leak i wouldn't stress it, just check it more frequently.
for the top fitting there should be no problem as all since the fitting is inside the tubing and gravity fed, so it cant really leak unless it backed all the way up.
there is a possibility of it leaking at the bottom more, but if it doesn't leak.... then it doesn't leak. good luck

it looks fine to me. just remember, the stock Greddy turbo kits come with hose clamps too. Just keep an eye for the first week and during your weekly check up's

Because it is the oil return, yea just check for leaks and stuff, it should be fine because there is no pressure. However, just a warning for the future, steel braided hose isn't made to compress by means of worm clamps, so the clamps aren't really able to clamp it that tight on the nipple, so generally try not to use that on things that see a good amount of pressure.

I think though the line could be shorten a bit, like half of an inch,,, just to make a more pronounced slope. IMO,,, what you guys think?

i have set up about 6 cars with a return line like that. It has always worked fine until yesterday. My buddy with a revhard kit with about 15000 miles since the install calls me. "dude my return line came off!". for some reason after that long it just slipped off the drain flange on the turbo.
I would recomend using a barbed fitting or welding a small bead at the end to provide more of a mechanical lock. That is how the kit should have come in the first place IMO. All the ones I make have a bead around the end to prevent this in the future. good luck
