what kind of rods should i get?
after decimating two pistons due to some idiot hookin up the wastegate line to the wrong place...i replaced them w/ some je 9:1. we swapped them out and i am gettin my car tuned w/ hondata as we speak...now my next step is to get some rods for next month. i was wondering what your guys opinion is, i am lookin at either crower, endyn, or eagle. any suggestions? i heard that crower is about the same as the other two, but not sure. yes,i kno the endyns are manufactured by eagle . please help.

All the choices are fine choices. The Eagle rods will be fine. They are the bang for the buck, they will hold. We have eagle rods in a motor that are pushing 650 to the wheels. Its up to you, either choices is will be good.
Crower, Pauter, Eagle, and Cunningham are all good. I personaly gonna run Eagles becasue of the price. I know of two people running 600+whp on eagle rods. I think that is plenty.

Wait.. you replaced your pistons... and /now/ you're replacing your rods? Your JEs are on stock rods?
The "Endyn" rods are just eagle rods that have magic larry dust sprinked over them. I have both crowers & eagles. The crowers are probably a bit stronger for FI due to their design... but trivially. I personally would go with eagle rods.

yes theyre on stock rods..the JEs are in stock bore. but after much contemplation looks like a new block is needed due to honing off the walls, the guy who put my motor back together did a slight hone and thought stock size pistons would be ok, guess he was wrong. so i am going w/ the 2.0 liter fully built block from importbuilders. this hobby is getting quite expensive.
Honing really does not remove that much material. How many miles are on the motor?
You should have been able to hone and use stock bore pistons with no issues. After some serious continued honing on my friend's block, we were only able to remove about .0005 inch of material (as measured with a dial bore gauge)

after talking with you on AIM I think you should go with eagle, They are cheaper and will work great.. also easier to come by then the crowers..
dustin...there is 11,000 miles on the motor.(01 b18c1) i didnt think there would be any problems either...the guy did the same thing on his motor.( it was a toyota engine oh well) its only because i am hearing like a kind of gurgling noise after 5k, it got me worried...my tuner here said it was piston slap...i really would rather just get rods then get a whole new block
what do u think?
what do u think?
Hmm, well you should measure the bores and thus determine your piston->wall clearance. Then you will know for sure. I doubt that a "gurgling" noise is piston slap... slap usually sounds like ticking.
I'd yank the motor apart, get rods.. measure the bores and make sure everything is the right size. Since you're replacing the rods you'll be getting new rod bearings so there goes one more variable. Are you using your original main bearings? Might as well change those too.

haha..so u dont think gettin the 2.0 liter is a better idea? the place where i would get all that stuff done here would probably charge the same as how much im gettin the new block installed and tuned for...
