b16a spoon engine?
THe kind of power it make is not worth $6000
"For the ultimate in endurance racing, Spoon offers you the B-series engine assembly. Each engine assembly is a JDM Honda longblock straight from Spoon's engine assembly room. Spoon acquires these blocks from Honda Japan and disassembles them. Prior to reassembly, Spoon precision balances and blueprints these longblocks to ensure optimum performance during endurance racing. These long-blocks are blueprinted down to 0.1g. and include a Spoon 2ply. metal head gasket"
In english its a stock b16a that balanced and blueprinted and they put in a spoon headgasket...Thats not worth $6000..But I guess having spoon written on it is

... well, unless you are a hardcore endurance racer with sponsorships. Then it 'might' be worth it.

I think you have a more powerful setup getting a B18C5 if you were going to spend that kind of money. Everything on the C5 would be larger and stronger and it would still be stock.

Not brand new longblocks from Honda . . .

Actually, the internals of a Spec-R engine would be "smaller" and "weaker." Think about it.

All Spoon engines start out as brand new longblocks from Honda, hence the "Spoon acquires these blocks from Honda Japan."
I'd like to see anyone buy a brand new longblock from Honda and have it torn down to be precision balanced and blueprinted for the same cost as a Spoon crate engine.

You could make a stock C5 crazy fast for that money, ...
BUT
I seriously doubt it would do well at all in Enduro racing.
That's why I say it 'might' be worth it if you were hardcore into endurance racing. I would personally go with a JUN engine in that case.

I don't understand. A type R engine has bigger dasplacment to start with= more torque, has stronger rods with higher chromium content, fully counter balanced crank which makes it very smooth up to 10,000 rpm, the head is ported from factory, lighter valves, stronger valve springs, agressive cams, 62 mm throttle body, high flow intake manifold, pistons are lined with low friction coating, the tranny has a great final drive and and lsd.
Now compare that bith a balanced Spoon B16 for $6000....i don't know....how can it be a better deal to go with just a b16? and how is a C5 smaller and weaker?
A stock B18C5 should be very relaible! Even in endurance racing.
