ya...think about $8000 for one. And its a JDM engine so if you live in cali you are going to have problems with it. But the b16b stroked to 2.0 litres makes like 240hp (very yummy)

Its very much a race engine..not really a street engine.

There are a few types of SPOON engines that u can choose from. I am not sure if u can still get the 1600cc B16A/B16B engines from SPOON but there are 1800cc for sure. Those are B18C 98specR balanced & re-assembled by SPOON. There are two types of 1800cc SPOON engine though. One is 11.3:1(Jap Spec 98SpecR) and another one is 11.7:1(tuned) on compression ratio.

U can visit SPOON's official webpage in North America: http://www.aj-racing.com http://www.spoonsports.ca

And contact A&J Racing, Vancouver at info@aj-racing.com for further info and price enquiry...

Well it depends what u get to build that engine. SPOON engines are already "ran in" brand new engines. So u can kick the sh** outta there once u get it installed. Safe and pretty much trouble free kinda way to go.

Yes u can get used B18C1/5 to build too. But u have to know what u want and ich way u're heading and not wasting money on trying stuff out.

not all spoon motors are created equally... only some of them are good while others are junk... and for 8k u can do a lot better than a spoon motor... remember u are paying for the name; as well as shipping and all other associated charges... imo... i like spoon motors... but unless u have the money just burning a whole in your pocket... just build one yourself... je's with some crowers/ knife-edging the crank in a balanced block.... i woul rather have this than a spoon motor

Definitely just buying the name, i dont care how well engineered spoon parts are they are overly priced. I still am planning on stuffing as many spoon goodies in my engine as my pockets will allow. But you could get something with the same or equal quality for waaaaaaaaaayyy cheaper.

spoon engines in my mind are only good if you have absoltley no shop around there to do all the porting, stroking, blueprinting, etc for you. they come out of the box good to go so you can just pop it in and HOPE you run fast. but they are overpriced in that you can do the same thing for a lot less. just find a shop willing to do it with a good rep and have them do it the same way. but the first thing you should figure out is what way you wanna go ( forced induction, NA, auto Xing, 1/4 mile, etc)

This guy with a civic ask me if we could put a sr20 in his car.

I don't think the cops will find the body.

I just brought a new engine for my car, because my old one was fucked!! I called up a shop in Asia to order a brand new 98 spec TypeR engine (long block only). And the price is around $5500 CDN or $3700USD before shipping. Shipping will cost you anywhere from $150-$700CDN depend if you want it by ship or by air. Tax and duty will be around $400CDN.

And here is the pictures of what I recieved!!

A normal looking box, but when I open it, guess what I see??

Well, I am not sure if it is really a Spoon engine or not, but I called the shop after and ask. They said they brought the engine from Spoon, that why it has all the Spoon sticker on it. But they are not sure if Spoon did anything to it.

From the look of it, the engine seem like it come with a Spoon 2 pieces head gasket and Spoon Oil Pump. Because the shop who install the engine for me said both of them doesn't look like the stock TypeR parts

Here is a picture of the B18C logo and the headgasket.

The stock head gasket isn't all silver on the part that sticking out. The only thing that stop me from thinking that it isn't a Spoon gasket is that my old Spoon gasket doesn't have any number printed on it.

But I don't really care, since for that amount of money, I got a brand new typeR engine with Spoon sticker wrapping all over it, can't complain at all

Oh yea, the reason I brought the engine from Asia is because it is more expensive to get the short block and cylinder head separately from the Acura here or the US for me!!

But where did you get your Spoon engine from?? My guess is Japan=Asia? Am I correct?? So what is the different? How much is your Spoon engine and what included in it?

Also, I never said the engine I got is a real Spoon engine, it just a 98 TypeR engine that come with all the Spoon sticker wrapping on it. And the shop said it is because they got the engine from Spoon. And it has a not stock looking headgasket and oil pump on it!!

However, I can't verify for sure that those parts are from Spoon!!

hey dude,

I think you are not too familiar with Engine rite??? You probably bought this engine through G.P. Club in HK. That engine you have is a Spoon balanced B18C engine cos it comes with the Spoon 2p head gasket CR 11.3:1 . I know this is bullshit to ask you open up the engine to check cuz you can tell from the internals.

Honda Japan doesn't sell any assembled engines so where should this engine come from or maybe I must have mistaken that engine is a used unit.

I can't help noticing that the colors are different on the head and the block.....don't seem brand new for some reason.

I don't familiar with Engine??
So let say I got the engine engine from GP in HK, then what I said in my message is totally correct!!

Did you see that I stated that it come with a non-stock headgasket that looked like a Spoon 2pcs one?? Did I ever stated that it is indeed a real Spoon engine? I guess NOT!! Rather, I clearly stated that I am not sure that this is a Spoon engine or not!! Because I don't want to mislead people to think you can get a Spoon engine from this cheap!!

Oh, if you know so much, then can you tell me what oil pump did it come with in that engine? Because it doesn't look like a stock TypeR oil pump at all!!!
