Default Car shakes at 40mph +

My car shakes violenty from 40mph and up. The whole car and steering wheel shakes? Anyone know the cause? I was told it was a bad axle? Didnt hear any clicking noises when turning, at low speeds the car is fine. Any help is appreciated...

Maybe your wheels are really out of balance? Or your tie rod ends could be worn? ANy noises?

it dould be a bad axle, the axle does not have to make a clicking noise when you turn to be bad. check your tires and alingement

Do you feel a shake at low speeds to? It could be the alignment, bad bushings, bent rim and last and least axle. But it is most likely your alignment, if you feel the shaking after a certain amount of speed.

my daily is a 94 4 door civic and mine did that about 60 ... what i did was jack up the car and start it and let it slowly go into gear and get out and look at the axles ... mine were real bad looked like an egg rolling on a table on both sides

sounds like axles or simple problem with alignment. Also check your tire balance.

is it snowing where you live? snow might be lodged in the wheel causing it to be off balence. otherwise, i'd bring it to a shop that does balencing.
