i want to install an OEM strut bar from a 99-00 SI to my 2000 EX, their is a spot on where i put the struts

MY QUESTION IS?

would i just drill and put some bolts in their or is their more stuff to put in their rather than just bolts?

if it is just drill and put bolts, what is the actual size of the bolts?

Your mistake is callign it "struts" - which this term usually refers to the actual suspension struts or shocks.

I believe you are actually thinking of thte "strut bar" or chassis brace in this situation.

To help you out - there is 2 x rubber grommets in the holes where you should place the OEM style chassis bar on either side of the engien bay...its pretty straight forward...

Think thats what he's talking about? If thats the case, the rubber things arent on all civics (like my ej8).

If its really shocks that we're talking about - there is NO drilling.

Marc-111 - you need to clarify what it is youre talking about...because obviously, we dont know

There are grommets on some, and some you do have to drill.

 

the ex did not come with the bolts that si coupe had for the strut bar.
you need to put bolts in order to install factory si strut bar. why go through all the trouble when you can just buy an aftermarket bar that goes on your shock bolts?

Because a lot of aftermarket bars have pivot points, making them pretty much useless for more than twice (or more) the cost of an oe si/gsr bar

No, they're there already, just need the bolts.

 

yeah? They weren't there on my 97 or my buddies 99, or another 00

 

No holes on my 97EX.. brother's 99 Si got totalled so I got some stuff off of him-- tenzo-r front strut bar, rear strut bar and tie bar.. he also gave me his oem strut bar (he had both on at the same time), which i found out wouldn't work(NO GOD DAMNED STUDS ).

 

so drill the damned holes

Since you're drilling, just pick a bolt that fits the holes of your strut bar.

I have an aftermarket one, and I think I used 8mm x 30mm (or 10mm x 30mm). But you can also use 3/8" x 1 1/4" long (1" long it probably enough too). You don't want it too long or it'll hit the hood, too short and obviously it won't reach through everthing.

Then just get washers that fit the bolts you are using. Lock washer might be better to use.

I drilled right through. It's not that thick. Make sure that the car is NOT raised. Let it rest on a level surface when torquing down. This makes it a little difficult to reach through the wheel well to under the tower, so temporarily jack the side up to insert the bolt. Repeat the other side. Remove the jack and torque.
