Default detachable steering wheel and SRS (searched)

hey guys i just had a few questions. when adding a detachable steering wheel to an SRS equipped car, the SRS light comes on because you have to unplug the plug. now, does that only disable the driver side airbag because that is the one that is unplugged or does it disable both driver and passenger airbags? i'm not quite sure, i think once a long time ago someone told me that both would be disabled sense the SRS is one unit. also if it does disable both driver and passenger, is their a work around to have at least the passenger airbag working?

i am still debating on whether or not to get a detachable steering wheel, for obvious theft deterent reasons but also safety issues regarding the SRS is leaning me the other way. some more info would be greatly appreciated. thank you

My friend installed a Sparco wheel on his civic. A couple of months later he has an accident and the passenger one deployed. I will ask him if he did something to it. 96 DX if it matters...

This HKB hub adapter has an electrical connection inside to retain full function of your SRS system without the drivers side airbag. It will also keep your SRS computer from throwing codes and lighting up the SRS light.

You will still need a hub adaptor before you can add a steering wheel quick release. The quick release portion is suposed to bolt between the new hub and the steering wheel, while the hub is designed to bolt directly to the factory steering column splines. Oops, did the price of a removable steering wheel just jump way up?
