hey guys, well looking at intakes again cause my AEM SRI got jacked the other day, i know iv heard good things about the Comptech Icebox, but only thing leading me away from that is that u need the ice box then the SRI or just leave the stocker tube. but anyway, saw the K&N and liked the design for a SRI because it includes a heatsheild, and its black which i like as well, but anyway 190 bux for it and im just not sure, and i searched for any info about it here and didnt see anythign, so anybody have info about if for me or experiance with it. or some other choices for under 200, and that arnt a CAI... thanks!

What do you expect someone to say? It's a short ram intake. It has a good filter. There's really no difference between this and any other SRI.
He is looking for someone that maybe has one. So he can ask how they like it and what-not. Calm down billy! Let him ask his questions.

im not saying im complety anti ice box or anything, but i do like the K&Ns style (just never hear anything about it), and i could easily make a pipe to lead air up into the area of the fitler, which would be held in by the heat sheid.
but yea, basicly im lookin for somebody who has one...

ok, i got another question now, with the icebox, u need either the comptech intake, or their air filter kit so u can still use the stock arm. i looked at the comptech fitler, and its a foam one, and i looked at the K&N replacment filter, and they look the same (same elbow and size), so what i want to know is if i can use the icebox with the K&N filter vs the comptech filter on the stock arm... anybody done this?

I remember that question was asked awhile back and from what I seen in the thread, the k&n replacement filter can be used in place of the foam one from comptech.
BTW just search for the comptech ice box and you'll probably find that thread.

dude, im no noob to H-T i know how to search and i did, i didnt want to find a zillion general intake threads, i already know most of that crap. i was asking about a specific intake, which nobody has talked about. i did a search for what i wanted to find and came up with nothing several times over, so either tell me somthing important or stfu cause u dont know anything i want to know! as for searchin for icebox, yea i will probably do that and read some over, and no, i dont want a Js racing knock off..... i just want to know more about the K&N.

Rather than analyzing each particular intake, it's generally better to classify intakes: CAI, SRI, and hybrid. CAI & SRI are fairly self-explanatory. Hybrid is the Mugen/Icebox/ARC type intake.
For the most part all the SRIs perform the same. It's a short tube with a filter on it. The filter is the important part. Make sure you get the correct diameter pipe too.
Most CAIs perform the same; a long tube with a filter on it. Again, the filter is the important part, and make sure the diameter is correct.
The hybrids are a bit harder to generalize about, but the Mugen and Comptech intakes are pretty damn close. ARC is unique, but was developed with a specific goal in mind.
And yes, the OEM K&N replacement works in the Icebox....I have it myself.

I don't know if you're still looking for a testimonial, but I have the K&N FIPK2 on my EM2 Civic and I love the thing - Most of us with 7th Gen Civics use the K&N, in fact, but possibly because it's one of the only choices available to us, not like the many intake choices I have with my DA.
As far as performance, dynos show it to top Injen and the Ebay knock-offs on our D17A2 motors... The sound is good and aggressive, but only at WOT. Idle and low throttle sound is pretty much stock. Fitment was perfect - in fact it was the only mod that I ever bought for any of my cars that fit perfectly the first time. It included every piece of hardware, a before and after dyno, and even the CARB sticker - something to look at if you're in Cali. The heatshield is lovely, BTW.
I'd recommend it to a 7th gen-er, but B-series is a different beast with more available - and for B-series, I'd say go with the J's or an Icebox if you want my opinion - probably better gains for equal or less money. The K&N is a little pricey as far as intakes, IMO.

I have K&N U2820, remove silencer and reroute the pipe to drawn cold air, so far I love it. It cost me $38 for the filter at local Advance Auto parts store, they dont have them stock but you can order thru them for free shipping and it came in 2 days. IMO its the best bang for the buck, I think i term of performce it will beat the short ram. Not to mention, its not loud like hell but its aggressive enough not to make you bored.

It will not fit. The GS-R's unique intake manifold sits lower and hence needs a longer pipe with an additional bend. Also, our TB is a different diameter so the pipe would be way too wide.
However, if you have a Skunk2 (or other aftermarket single-plenum intake manifold) IM, you can use the ITR arm.
