Default Optima battery

I have a Yellow optima battery in my EG it has been a problem since I installed an alarm if I go more than three days is is dead. Now My car wont hold a charge at all I had to push start it in the morning then Jump it. I have a volt meter and once my ride is running it shows 14 volts but if I shut it off then it won't start at all. Is my battery Done with? What battery should I put now?

to me it sounds like you may have a couple things wrong with your ride. For one something with the alarm must be draining power (staying on) as for the voltmeter showing 14 volts thats what the alternator is putting out that is a good number now with the car not running what voltage does the battery say? the alternator is not a battery charger its more of a maintainer, it wont charge a dead battery in some cases you will even kill your alt by trying to do that. what i would do is charge the battery up then see if it will do it again. if it does then i'd take the battery to get tested and or maybe replace. hope that may help you a little

I have had the alarm on the car for over two years and It seems to be getting worse. I think one of the cells must have died and the rest are toast now. I have a few friends here that are running the Odyssey battery has anyone run them are they hit or miss?

Disconnect your alarm and see if your car drains in 3 days. If it still has a charge and car starts up, then the problem is with your alarm system.
