Reliability issues with a Turbo?
I just put a Greddy TD04-15G Turbo on my civic EX with the stock D16Z6 motor in it. The engine has stock internals and the turbo setup is all stock from Greddy with no BOV yet. Is this setup reliable for a day-to-day driver pushing 5.5 psi? Also can a D16Z hold this boost with stock internals?
Yeah I thought it was safe with this turbo setup, I do have an intercooler off a 1st gen Eclipse, but haven't put it in yet. Its pretty small, fits in the corner of the bumper.

the psi depends on the turbo
, but the max whp the bottom end on a Z6 can handle is usually around 240whp, if you get an exceptional tune you can get 250-260 but thats rare. But get a BOV, not just cause ti sounds good either lol, they can be had for around 70 bucks or so, and u should hook up the dsm intercooler as well, it will increase ur hp slightly and reduce the risk of detonation (u dont have to worry about that really at 5.5 psi) if you up the boost. Good luck to you

it should be fine the way it sits. I have a modified drag3 kit on my LS with stock internals and it's daily driven 365days/yr. As long as you don't drive like an *** everywhere you go it'll stay reliable

reliablity deals with tuning, ushould get rid of the blue box or emanage depending on what u have and either get hondata or uberdata, of course hondata is more expensive and uberdata is relatively cheap, but if you want reliablity tuning is key
Reliability depends on how you drive it and the quality of tune.
Even if its tuned perfect and you flog on it everyday, it will not last as long as a N/A engine. you introduce alot more stress/heat on engine parts that weren't designed for a turbo.
With all that said, go uberdata. I am looking into this for a friend of mine and it seems to be the cheapest route and the results are great (from what I have read so far).
A BOV will increase the life of the turbo, but in all honesty there weren't many stock turbo cars that came with a BOV. I think Volvo, GM, Ford, etc never had them. An intercooler would be a much better investment in performance and extended engine life.

The tune, the maintenance, and how you drive it all effects how long it'll last, but I'm just repeating what everybody else is saying.
I've daily driven a D16Y7 with the same kit (you should look into a BOV for sure) with a BOV and an intercooler for the past year and a half with no hiccups caused by the boost at all. And this is at 8-9 psi daily.
