Default Heres a "Ingition Switch Replacement" How to (88-91)

I bought my car with one completely busted and torn up with no key so it had to be replaced. I bought the new OE switch with a set of doorlocks and trunk lock for $80. I didn't see a how to anywhere on it already so I thought I'd post it for those that have to do the same in the future.
1. Remove the plastic column cover (snaps apart)
2. Use a 11/64 drill bit and drill out the rivets on the keyside of the ignition that hold the switch to the column. The other side will just fall out when the rivet is busted.
3. I reused the same screws, just had to cut a line through the head to enable the use a flathead screwdriver to tighten the new switch down.
4. Put the new swich into location and tighten down.
5. Swap over the 2 plugs, one (big)is under the steering column the other (small) goes to the fuse box
6. Reinstall the cover test fit the key.

Only took about 45min, mainly due to the fact that it is very cold here and its hard to work in such a tight spot with numb fingertips.
Hope this helps.

STEP 2: I just took a dremel and cut a slot into it, and turned it out with a flat head.
(if you dont wanna drill throught the bolt.)

nice writeup anyway! </TD></TR></TABLE>Yeah you could buy some bolts, but the scre popped out undamaged so I just reused them. Unfortunately I didn't take any pics, I'm probably the last person on earth that doen't own a digital camera yet; but it was pretty straight forward. I do have pics of the before pics, I just have to get them developed.

I didn't say it was ONLY for 88-91, It may be the same for 84-91, my car is an 89 and I do know that the 88-91 is exactly the same, 84-88 could very well be the same to. When I bought my parts they were listed as only 88-91.
