Default Knocking wheels

Hi folks

I have a 96 accord 2.0litr ils with 85000 on the clock, recently, when right turning the car has begun to make a knocking sound, which seems to come from the left front wheel. Can anyone tell me what they think this problem is and how to rectify it.

I'm pretty useful when it comes to cars but have never had this happen before, I'v checked around the wheel but cant see a problem apart from split gator can someone help out please?

Hazzo

This is probly the CV axles clicking. I would have them checked out and probly replaced. If the CV boots are torn there will be lots of grease inside the wheel.

you mean you have a 2.2 not 2.0. Its probably your axle. When your cv boot rips it tosses all of grease all around the inside of your wheels causing the cv joint dry out and click. i may be wrong, it could be somethin else

No, not a 2.2, I'm in UK, its a 2.0 ils, but I think your and the others answer to the problem is right, would replacing the boot/gator sort the problem, I dont think its been this way for long. Hazzo

if that is the case replace the cv boot as soon as possible so you won't have to replace the entire axle, I had the same problem and had the change axle and the boot. if the problem is bad enough the bearings may need to be replaced in addition to the previously stated parts.

how long has it been clicking??

you may just need to replace the CV boots then. but get on it as soon as possible. the clicking is damage being done to the axles. get under the car and see if the boot is torn

if its already clicking, you need to do the axle.

only time i would recommend replacing just the boot is if it has only been torn for a short time, like a couple weeks.

I'v tried to find a replacement axle over here and have been quoted $600 just for the part, a local independant who does work that I cant get at, such as this, has looked and is going to replace the dodgy cv joint and both boots for 300.

I think this is a deal over here as the parts will be around the 180 mark.

What do you folks here think. Hazzo

i would have to agree with the above answers if you said you hear a clicking noise.. but if it's a knocking, my guess is leaning more toward worn out shocks.
