Default 99 SI vtec q and gas mileage q

when is vtec supposed to kick in on a 99 Si coupe?

Si owners: about how many miles are you getting on a full tank?

ive noticed the last few fill ups im only getting about 280/tank with 80/20 city/hwy driving

and i dont drive hard due to a restricted license.... gas mileage seems low and tire pressure is where it should be.

i have shitty *** 185/65/15's on the stock SI rims. does tires size contribute to poor gas mileage since they're not even factory spec??

im at 69k so i prob ought to due plugs and wires too eh?

any thoughts, thanks

vtec kicks in at 5500 rpms
yeah i get the same gas mileage as you about 280 city and some hwy.
tires might be a bit small but shocks also play a part in gas mileage

Don't forget that you are running taller tires than stock on your car and that will cause your speedometer to read slower than you're actually going and will also cause your odometer to say that you travelled less miles than you actually did. That will cause you to calculate your fuel mileage incorrectly and it will read less mpg than it should.

185/65/15 is the correct size for a 01+ civic ex ...

correct size for the 99-00 si is 195/55/15 ... so your milage reading is off a bit

oh and if you're running the stock firestone fr690's ... they are THE WORST TIRES EVER

Gas mileage seems about right....I go about 250-270 with my JDM B16 and it's time to fill up because I don't trust my gas gauge.
