Default Hard rubber VS. Poly bushings

There are high durometer rubber and urethane bushings on the market for my car. I was wondering which was better then the other in stiffness, longevity, etc.
thanks

I think it really depends on the intended use and the specific bushing you're talking about. For a street car I would argue that poly bushings are more trouble than they are worth. The majority of people praising ES bushing kits are comparing them to old, rotten OEM bushings that don't perform as well as pencil eraser material. I imagine that a fresh set of OEM bushings under those circumstances would have been just as good without all of the squeeking and need for lubrication and cleaning. If you have a certain racing application in mind we can talk about each individual bushing and make a plan, but if you're looking to replace old factory bushings I would personally stick with rubber except for maybe the sway bar bushings and shift linkage bushings.

I can support the notion that rubber bushings on a street car are probably a better idea. I replaced many bushings in my suspension with polyurethane and they are a hassle. After 6 months or so I invariably hear squeaking. Let it go on too long and they will start to bind which is unsafe.

well my car is a 95 240sx and im going to overhaul the complete rear suspension. For those that dont know, the rear is multilink with 16 bushings i beleive not including the diff bushings in the subframe.
So it has tons of rubber and tons of movement and id like to isolate it as much as possible.
It will be a street, Auto-x and HPDE car for the next year or 2 and plans to be in ITS after that.
i was opting for the urethane but the nismo hard rubber is now seeming tempting from what you guys say....

If that is the case, I would go directly to http://www.improvedtouring.com/chat2/ and look through the nissan forum for advice. I don't have experience with the 240 rear end, but that is where I would look for the answer.
