Default Should I replace my TIMING belt?

I bought a motor from HMO and i checked the belt and it looks fine to me,
I know its recomended to change it before putting the motor in.
but im kind of low in cash should i go ahead and do it witht the water pump and tensioner. because if you do the belt you have to do the tensioner and might as well do the pump while you are it. so Yeah or nah?

so i ASSume, from your handle, that you have an H22? I would recomend changing it out as well as the tensioner. When we did an H22 swap in my buddies Accord he had a hydrolic tensioner that went bad and the timing belt came loose and shredded. From what I know the tensioners tend to be unreliable.

Post in the Prelude forum for some better advice...

Do it now or you could be paying for a new head later on down the road

if you have to ask then......yea do it now if you can afford it. Plus its alot easier now to access these parts, i.e you dont have to take off a motor mount.

yes do it now before you put it in. you'll thank yourself later when you don't have to go through all the crap to get it changed in the car.

if you don't have the cash just wait to do the swap.

Exactly what I was gonna say. Better safe than sorry, when dealing with swaps. Better to spend a hundred or two now and be safe, then spend several times that in a month or two. My $.02

i didnt even read what you posted, i just read the thread topic, YES REPLACE IT! all of the timing area should NOT be short changed. you will regret it trust me. it's so simple when the engine is out(25-30min), but when its in, plan on about 2-3 hr change.
