i just got my swap...
I was just wondering if it's normal, after a swap for the car to feel kinda like it's gonna die for a couple of minutes and then be fine? I've only put 16 miles on it since the swap so could it be that it hasn't run in a while and has to flush some stuff out or could it be that i need a new alternator belt and O2 sensor?
if its the alternator belt i believe it would be squeaking..is it cold where you live...are you letting your car warm up..explain the problem a little more please.
no it isn't cold and yes i let it warm up and also yes to the belt makin a funny sound not quite a squeak more like a loud belt noise (i don't know if that makes any sense). Oh and yea the O2 sensor thing is because when i got my swap my ecu only had two wires for it and the new one has four, so i'm runnin a lil rich and burnin a lil more fuel than i should be.

shut up.
that can be your problem if you're car is running rich..does it make any noises when its about to die?

nah it doesn't die it just get to about the point where it should die but then picks back up and is normal for a while. The shitty thing about all this is that i can't see what it's idling at because cx's didn't come with a tach (bastards).
why would the ecu have only 2 wires for the o2 sensor? what ecu are you using?
you should be using a chipped p28 ecu which has the 4 wire o2 sensor.
i have a tach with shift light i will sell you. where are you in texas?

CX's came with the 1wire 02 (D15B8) and a P05 ECU i believe ... i didn't check my ECU sticker..... need more info about your swap if you want a more accurate answer/solution to your problem . (i.e. what wiring harness did you use ..... what ENGINE is in it ... lol too little information that you left out , i believe that you did not do this swap yourself judging by the title of the thread so take it back and have them fix it ... if you paid for somebody else to do it)

from what was said i have a swapped ls in my eg and i had the same problems like u did. the way i fixed my motor was b/c of the harness and bad coil in the distributor. i used my cx harness for my ls motor once i changed it and plugged my o2 sensor in and changed the distributor the problem stopped

if your O2 sensors havent matched, yes, this WILL cause problems. as far as the dying, try sea-foaming, or just a engine flush. replace the fluids and stuff. then, reset the ECU. when you start it up cold, let it idle till it gets to operating temp. then drive lightly, the car has to relearn how to drive (adaptive strategy). but this "dying" seems to be from a too low idle. the first few times u drive after resetting the ECU could cause a low idle for a moment (meaning a second or two) but not for long.
i got a b16a2 wiring harness the shop ordered, and ecu i think p28 not sure though, i'm just wondering about all this because i don't want it to end up being a bigger problem by driving it ya know?
have you checked if your getting enough fuel, all your fuses, wiring connections, grounds, any of that?
fix your obvious problem first, your o2 sensor, and then see if it still happens. if you know you have the wrong o2 or whatever, then get it fixed, then see if you still have problems.
since you already know you have a problem with something, of course that could be causing the idle problem, but i don't think it would. i ran a motor with a bad o2 for months and never had a problem, but your motor could be different.

sea foam is not a cure all. its like people who say "oh you are having XXX problems? replace the o2 sensor"
many times an engine DOES need to burn crap out of itself if it has sat for a long time, best advice i can give is just drive it. if it gets better good, if it gets worst you may have an underlying issue.
the o2 sensor isnt even looked at till the engine is fully warm so all thes people screaming o2 sensor while they are correct it can cause a problem, it isnt the cause of this one because it happens while the engine is cold and warm.

ok to all who have given advice on this issue i found out that it was my throttle cable. apparently the throttle cable i have is too long so they had to bend it, but they said that hasport sells a throttle cable for my swap and it shouldn't be but $30, so nothing big.
