maintenance is red
okay, after i installed my DC header, i noticed that my maintenance warning thing was red. any clues why its red? is there any way that you can reset it back to green? thanks
lol it turns red 7,000 miles after you push the button to turn it back to green. It was not caused by the headers. Read your Honda Civic Owners Manuel!
Its just hondas saftey ****...to get regular check-ups i guess. i just reset it everytime. But of course...I always do my checkups myself...motor swap./...ya know. its nothing to worry about.

Ok...well check this out...I'm glad you got you a honda. Now...instead of asking questions you could probably find the answer to. Use search. (which i understand with this question you wouldnt be able tof ind it on search probably) And a REALLY GOOOOOOD idea would be to get you a HELMS manual. Its right next to my bible. Or maybe i should say it tooks its place? uh oh....hope there arnt too many holyrollers about to jump on my case.
The maintanace indicator is there to remind you to change your oil.
Under Normal Conditions you change the oil every 7500 miles or 12 months. Severe is every 3750 miles or 6 months.

The indicator light is for scheduled maintenance...coolant, rotating tires, etc...
Check your manual.

There is a couple different shades of green. So you will have to push the button a couple of times, till it gets to the lightest green. Thats what happened with me anyways.

Severe operation schedule is still 3750. The old change schedule for 3 mo / 3k miles is for old cars like my 75 corvette with a carb. It has alot more dirt/grime and blowby than any newer Fuel injected vehicle.
Although it is the "life blood" of the engine so change it as often as you like. I think that the manual suggesting 7500mi for normal conditions is fine especially since I use mobil 1 which has extended life over dyno oil.
Also I dont think the maintenance indicator is for "coolant, etc..." as these maintenance items go beyond the 7000mi / 7500mi distance it requires to trip the indicator to yellow/red. sparkplugs / air filter / valve clearance / inspect adjust drive belts / replace coolant at 30k
rotating tires at 7500 isn't a bad idea. I may need to start doing this but its kind of a pain in the ****.
