Default Thermostat question

I just swap a d16 in my car and before I did my temp sensor was fine in my car, but after the swap my sensor stays at cold and sometimes at a stop light the sensor will read normal somtimes. Could a bad thermostat be causing this?

I searched but all I got for a bad thermostat is that your temp sensor will read hot.

I got the same issues too, temp gauge would never reach half way and if I got the heat going it would drop a little, but I would still get heat though. Did it before the swap and and still the same afterwards. So I guess I'm looking for the same answer as you too.
