im gonna check out a car today, not familiar with sohc ID codes(eg d16xx) some hit me up with a link to where i can find out the chassis code, engine id code and all the good stuff

What the engine codes mean:

B stands for b series motor
18 stands for 1.8 liter
C, C1, C5 stands for the classification and USDM JDM.
C=JDM C1=USDM C5=TypeR

i thought that the letter after the liters was the head, and the number (usdm) is the series of that motor.

Yeah, I would agree with that. Of course if it doesnt have a number at the end it's "JDM" but aside from that, it just helps determine the series of motor. If I have a JDM B18C, it could be a type R or GS-R motor, only in America does a C5 determine whether or not it's a Type R motor.

Not always. More like this:

B stands for B series motor
18 means 1.8 liters
C, C1, C5 is a form of classification.
C= JDM market GS-R or Type R
C1= USDM GS-R
C5= USDM Type R

I don't think thats right. ex. B16a and B16B, the heads are the same although 1 is pnp, but the blocks are totally different B16B I believe is the same block as the 1.8 vtecs....

correct so the head dose have modifaction done to it. And also the b16b is a destroked b18.

There are several FAQ links. FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions. These are "sticked" or always at the top......
