He was uite sure that it was, i just never heard of it before, he also said they came in 1.5 and 1.6 sohc v tec, sounds more like d eseries to me but havn't seen yet. Can anyone fill me in...i'm gonna try to get the eng code from him just to check it. Thanks

you own a shop and haven't heard of a SOHC VTEC used in the 92-95 Civic Si's?? It's the D16Z6 and was also in the 93-95 Civic EX. There was also a D15 vtec in the VX, which was weak, and a ZC vtec from Japan. He's refering to the D16Z6 though

not trying to start anything, but whats kind of shop u are running? import or domestic? if you are running a import shop, i think u will need to do more research. anyway, to answer your question, yes, there are sohc vtec engines.

Yeah you should really do some research, if you are running an import performance shop, the soch vtec motors will probably be the powertrain that you see the most.

He might not own the shop, but maybe just works there?

Anyways yes there are bunch of SOHC VTEC motors.

Most common ones are the 1992-1995 D16Z6 from the Si hatch and the 1993-1995 EX coupe and EX 4-door (as mentined above) and the 1996-2000 EX D16Y8. the D16Z6 is a 1.6L SOHC VTEC rated at 125hp at the crank. the D16Y8 is rated at 127hp and has a better head design (square combustion chambers with better fuel quench area) and better intake manfold design.

Then there is the 1.5L economy VTEC motrs that came in the 1992-1995 VX.

there's also a nice 130hp 1.5L VTEC motor from Japan too, along with the SOHC 1.6L ZC, and the not-so-common JDM D16A 1.6L SOHC VTEC. All are probably rated around 130hp.

Does that help?

thanks for the info...i've probably seen them just never reallypaid attention to it. As for my typing, go f.. you'r self spoon , i work 16 hour days, and i'm a little tired. I do own the shop but i don't do much import stuff, mostly domestic conversions, wiring and electronics, where i live we don't get to see the nice import conversions....not enough loot. Just so everybody is clear, not every shop and/or shop owner lives his life around hondas, theres a big world out there guys, lots to see and do......lol......later!

it was a good question and now he has the answer

Edit- I'm running a ZEX street/strip cam and like it a lot. A few people are running Skunk 2's, who just had a new line for the D series to come out.
