I've wanted to get some 17 inch rims for the past few years but all my hatchbacks cant handle it because the rub. Finally got my 00 coupe and might be able to pick up a set this week. Are 17's going to rub again on the coupe? Thanks guys..
tire rubbing will occur if your car is to low, or if the offset is not correct. and dnt listen to everyone when they say " dnt get 17's be like everyone else and get 15's or 16's"

whats the right offset on a coupe? i havent dropped my car since i just it from the dealership 2 days ago. but i have no plans of dropping it to the max. any pics you guys can provide?
i believe 40 is the right offset(dnt quote me) but you can go like about 1.5 to 2 with out problems of rubbing. unless you got a camber kit cause then it would rpossibly rub.
There's no real 'correct' offset.. However, civics should stay between 38-45. Rubbing depends on how low you are dropped and how you have the camber/toe adjusted.
About a 1.5" drop and 40 series tires shouldn't really rub all that much (maybe on hard corners), unless you have a camber kit (which isn't really needed unless you are dropped more than 2")

most ppl here at honda tech would say 15's or 16's. BUT, its your car...so if you wanna go 17's do it. its your car..do what you want.

my OLD civic with 17s.. these pictures are before i lowered it more, no rub unless i was going over a bump while turning. other than that it was fine.

Changing the size of the wheel from 17 to 15 doesnt make a difference if you can slam it or not. If it's the same width wheel with the correct tire size on it, it'll have the same properties.

my opinion 17" on a wrx, s2000, etc...YES, a civic max 16" dump it and it will look alot cleaner and nicer than any 17" cuz it wasnt meant to be, also it will throw ur speedo off a bit...but thats my 2c

IMO, looks wise....it really depends on the design/colour of the wheels. Some cars can get away with 17's and others just look plain nasty. Here's my car on 17's and compare it to the one below that, they're both same size wheels. See the difference...but they're both the same size....really makes you think....

BTW, this is not my car! I found it on cardomain.com

yeah... they rubbed... lol
But on a serious note 17's are not too big... the rubbing you would notice will be minimal and only experienced under hard cornering...

i have to agree because it takes power to turn those big *** wheels. the bigger they are the harder they are to turn hence loss of power for you

I remember this guy with a 00 Si that had 17" Racing Harts CP8 42" offset dropped with Neuspeed Race springs with no rubbing whatsoever.
mines dropped pretty much to pretty much the max, have like 12 threads from the bottom on my GC and it doesnt really rub unless i bust a u-turn...then again im on 15s

Just got my set last. I really couldnt pass on those original Racing Hart C2s. Installed them last night and compared to my Si rims they are heavy as hell! I felt the loss of power too. But I guess I'm more concerned about looks so I'll keep em and my Si rims. I'll post pics tonight. Thanks guys.
