Back in the day, NIRA@MIR 2001
You don't see me in those results but I was there that day. I was #1 qualifier in Comp 6 with the old Jetta. I ran a 13.37 at 103. I had that field covered but a coolant hose to my oil cooler failed just prior to 1st round.
The event was so crowded I had to pit in the grass and didn't notice the leak until we were paired up in the staging lanes and then it was to late. I stuffed rags around everything just so i could stage without officials seeing the leak and get down the track. I only had water in there anyway!
It didn't work, i was shut down just as i rolled through the water. I would have drained that thing if I noticed it sooner.
I was so pissed off, I had that field covered! It was all good though. My buddy Donald won it in his Probe instead!
I always had bad luck at NIRA MIR events. My first race there cost me my first ever axles, both of them at the same time.
Jason Hunt let me use his tow dolley to bring my car home with my little Subaru. That was one hell of a sight! I kept spare axles after that!

fred will always be OG all motor king in my eyes. not only could he drive but he made a fast car with some smart ideas and real simple setups. lot of familiar names on there
to all the people that were racing back then that helped make the sport what it is today.

I remember seeing the VW back in the day.
It was a major PIA getting through the pits before they remodeled.
Did you go to WW3 when the V6 Shadow won the N/A 6cyl class?
