Default Prelude Combo Shock/Spring Question (Yes, i've searched)

quite simply, will this work for an SH? (seems like a good deal)

http://www.coximport.com/store/KE029

there's been a ton of arguing about this, and after 2 hours of reading, i'm more confused than when i started....some say as long as you replace springs and shocks at same time, it's ok....others say that base shocks will never work on an SH....i need actual experience from SH owners

They should work w/ after market springs for the type SH. There aren't much SH owners running KYB AGX shocks. Most of them run Koni yellows w/ GC, neuspeed, or H&R springs.

You will need to right spring to mate with the KYB AGX shocks, some springs will work, some won't.

IMO, I suggest Koni yellows w/ GC coilovers, it's the most popular. If you need more help, I suggest posting in the suspension forum. The suspension gurus can help you there.

1) i've posted in both (just in case)

2) the deal in the link comes with an Eibach ProKit (which according to Eibach, should work with an SH)

3) Koni's are twice the price and i'm a poor poor man

we've done a few Preludes and we always run dropped springs on the factory struts, we usually don't suggest more that a 1 3/4" drop with the stock struts and we generally cut one hump out of the bump stop. The spring of choice from our shop used to be Neuspeed or Eibach and never would reccomend Goldline or any cheapy "offshore" spring but lately we started using Tein's due to their quality and price.

TEIN s-techs are great!

I installed them over a year ago on my stock struts and they are awesome with my st sways and fr. and rear tower bars. I would highly recommend them for quality and it has the perfect ride imo. (for no shocks)

good luck

frisbee, thank you for that post. i was agonizing over what to do with my lude. i have a 93 vtec lude, and i bought a set of kg/mm springs from a buddy of mine in japan, and i can't afford any shocks right now or probably for a little while. the drop is i think 1 1/2", so if i cut one hump out of the bump stop, i should be ok?

Im in the same position as you right now. Right now I'm stuck buying some stuff for my turbo project.

Here's what I told myself though... When it comes time for the suspension upgrades, I'm not going to go cheap. I mean, it's not like a stereo or something, this is ride quality we're talking about here. As for what I want, I have a pretty good selection to work with; Tein s-techs, Koni yellows & ground control coilovers. That's pretty much what I'll be sticking with.

I was originally thinking about Tokico 5-way adjustable... but I don't want to do that anymore.

I'm going to research susp. more later. When I get all my turbo parts in, I'm going to start researching susp. I don't know squat about it... or at least, I don't know as much as I should. And quite possibly, suspension & brakes will probably be the first class I take once enrolled in automotive school sometime within the next year/year & 1/2.
