exhaust noise, any ideas?
01 base lude 5 speed
i had a GReddy EVO 2 installed about3 months ago.
just recently i started to notice a metallic "ring" coming from the exhaust at low RPMs, from 1000-1500rpms, the exhaust drowns it out. is this normal? or should i dig deeper? i never noticed it before and its sutle, but im anul and just want to make sure. ideas?
two more questions.
how much to have a brand new clutch assembly installed from a honda dealer?
and how much for the average engine rebiuld at a honda dealer?

I have only some experience with Greddy exhausts (not personal) but it could be in the muffler because they use steel wool to deaden the sound and sometimes it'll come loose. Or, it could be an exhaust mount because sometimes the rubber hangers will vibrate and be squeaky like. As far as the clutch install, I dunno, I am doing mine myself
and I didn't really know that honda dealers did a whole lot of engine rebuilds. Anyways, hope this helps! Good Luck!

i checked all te mounts, they're great.
one night on a highway i went to shift from 4th to 5th and the shifter didnt go into gear so i wound up revin to a little over 8k. startin hearin the noise after that. it doesnt happen all the time, but about 85% of the time it does.if something was knocked loose, dont know if that could contribute. if there is something loose, is there anyway to fix it?

Well, i'm not exactly sure. But there is no possible way to fix anything within the muffler or resonator. I would shine a flashlight into the muffler and look to see if there is any of the loose steel wool-like stuff that may have came loose!
when i bought my evo 2 it came with gaskets to connect the 2 main sections together, i forget, does the stock exhaust require these gaskets? or do the two pipe peice bolt up to each other?
there is no gasket in the stock exhaust, or on the N1 i use, but i don't know about others. there is one after the cat tho. shifting should not affect the exhaust. actually, not much affects the exhaust but the ground and speed bumps... clutch from honda here was $340, but i don't bout the labor, as that was covered under warranty. prob bout $350-400 plus the clutch assembly.
