Default Thump when turning and accelerating.

I get a weird thump or clunk from the drivers side when the steering wheel is turned to make a right turn. It doesn't clunk when cruising into the turn, but if I accelerate from a stop or accelerate into a right turn it clunks. Started happening after replacing my clutch. Any suggestions?

Take a look at your CV boots. If they're busted, you'll have a clicking noise when you turn the steering wheel.

It's not the CV boots and its not a repetitive click. Just one single thump.

Your CV boot doesn't have to be messed up at all for the axle to be bad.

I have a clunk coming from the left wheel when making tight slow turns (i.e parking).. it clunks at a particular spot, probably after one full turn or so.. and clunks again on the way back.

its a metalic type of sound, kinda like DING CLUNK with a bit of SCRAPE in between.

any ideas? i've always thought CV but now i think its something worse, its quite loud too.

That's exactcly how I would describe the noise except without the scrape noise.

Nothing says it has to be the same thing on all your different cars, either. Drive up on ramps & look for loose bolts. Maybe loose bolts holding a subframe? Maybe loose inboard mounting points for control arms? Maybe anti-roll bar endlinks are loose?? You're each gonna have to look at all that stuff until you find something loose.

Sometimes jacking it can hide the problem. For example if a shock is getting flaky, you can jack it up & the shock will be stretched out to it's max & you can't tell it's loose. Got ramps?

T'was the axles yay! Felt like the CV joint was really loose. $69 bucks for the axle w/ lifetime warranty!
