High idle - reason?
Starting a couple weeks ago, the ITR started to act a bit strange. When i start the car, it will idle at about 1600 rpms and then once it warms up, it will idle at about 1200 rpms. Now granted it is really friggin cold where i am right now but even so, it used to idle at 600-800 rpms warm. I checked the spring return on the throttle and it snaps back and makes a good metal to metal sound so i dont think my throttle plate is dirty. I could always take off the intake and check. Just wanted some other opinions as to what could be goin on. Thanks for your help.
lights on?
heater fan on? (that is my guess)
there are a few sensors that bump the revs up.
-power steering pressure sensor
-ELD (engine load dector)
-VSS

If you could, could u explain what those three u listed were and are they easy checks. And also started relatively recently so im not sure what would cause it

p/s = when the idle is low turn the wheel from side to side (the idle will come up)
ELD (engine load detector) = turn the high beams on and crank the heater fan on (the idle will come up)
VSS (vehicle speed sensor) = when you are rolling the idle will be above normal to help prevent stalling. once you come to a stop the idle will drop back down to normal.

I have also had the same problem and it only happens when it is cold outside. It's only like 12 degrees here but anytime its below freezing it seems to do this until the car warms up. What could it be b/c it's nothing anything previously listed?

Well the problem is my idle is up and i dont know why and its not because of either of the first two. And its not the VSS because this is all while im stopped.

check your coolant, the idle will do exactly what is happening to you if you are low on coolant or there are air bubbles in the system. when the car is cold open the radiator up and fill it up. check to see where u are leaking from.
