Default B20 resleeving. From 84 to 81!!!!

There is idea to resleeving the B20 block from 84 mm to 81mm. Why?
Because it is more cheaper to get higher compresion with P30 pistons. I'm going to build for my friend engine, and I know the he is not rich one. Guy with midle income. This are not only tehnical question but more like financial.

So, did you practice that kind of think? You Guys in States can buy the pistons and rods buy much better price as we here in E-Europe. Price is allmoust double. And moust of us can't do that kind of investion. In the same time we are trying to do something from our possible resources. We have alot of CRV here. Engine block for 300$ in every junk jard.

The B18 have the same high as B20 engine block, then B20 with 81mm bore and 89 mm stroke will be something like 1,9 L motor! And moust important that cylinder walls become more stronger.

What do you think about that?

I think that would be almost a waste of money. I think that a 84mm bore would still allow enough wall strength for almost any setup and there is still room to bore it more, if required. And you could spend that sleeve money on some higher comp. pistons, just kinda seems like you would be backtracking if you reduced the bore.

CNC sleeving job here will cost some 250$ with sleeves. I'm from 3 part country you know

The pistons will cost 800$. There is a difference.

I don't see the question here.All a 81mm b20 is a b18a/b.A stock b18a/b would be ever cheaper.

We don't have here Integras. Only some ITRs selled in E-Europe from 98-00.

No possibility for B18B/C blocks. NO SUCH BLOCKS HERE, NEVER WAS. NO MONEY FOR THAT.

The sleeving here is very cheap. There are some performance Tuning companies in Estonia and Lithuania, but nothing in Latvia. We have here what we have, and we must work with parts which we can buy here. Ordering for some engine blocks from USA or Japan are extremly expensive.

Very big theoretical knoleges but the practical knoleges about tuning are very low. Only some people start to take for the first steps to build for something.

I got for my padre the B16A longblock swap kit for good price, because of damege. Problem was with crunkshaft - it's dead. Main bearing filure. We can get for cheap the B20Z blocks.
Chap sleeving + P30 pistons from the same B16 engine and we will have B20 block with 11.5 compresion.

well if you already have the p30s and sleeving is so cheap then i could see reducing the bore. And it seems with your scenario that it would be cheaper to go with the 81mm bore. So id go for it.

Sounds like it makes financial sense, if not performance. Although the higher CR will minimize the performance loss.

Yes, you right.

I have now in my Ls tegy B20Z+B16A2 engine. With stock internals. The torque is very impresive. BUT in low revs seems like engine don't have "sharpnes" because of low compresion.

If you guys interested I can update that rebuild with pictures from next week.

It would still be a 1.8L a b20 is just a LS with a 84mm Bore, same block same crank. So a B20 with a 81mm Bore is a LS

Since your going to resleeve your block you might as well bore it to 84mm since the sleeves will be better built, If you are using name brand sleeves, but it seems like it will be expensive to get 84mm bore pistons , and you want to use your B16 pistons so nevermind
Good Luck

I know, sounds stupid, not resonable, but will we try to do that. It's alot cheaper.

Well, we got the 2000 year B20Z1 CRV engine short block. By 550$.

I will throw the pics. Next week will start to build the engine.

It is resonable to modify the b20Z IM for B16 head. What about air flow? I can easy weld that resonator hole off and ported it.
